Desert Survival:

The Mojave is one of the most inhospitable places for the unprepared traveler. Springtime often makes her unpredictable, which is why we must prepare for an extreme environment.

Water:

Despite the moderate springtime temperatures, dehydration is a very big concern. You must bring enough water for the duration of the trip. Two gallons per day per person should be ample for normal use.

Food:

You must bring enough food for the duration of your trip. There is no vending at the campsite and the closest store is 25 miles away. Food, drink and merriment are also a key ingredient to having a good time with your new friends, neighbors and campmates. Remember to share those rare treats. :)

Cold:

The desert will get very cold at night. With lows in the 30s and the occasional 40 mph winds it can get very very very cold. Bring lots of warm clothing. Wearing many layers will allow you to adjust to the environment as conditions warrant. Having a wind proof coat is also essential. Don't forget to bring a warm hat and gloves.

Shelter:

The burning woman gathering is a camping trip. You must bring some kind of shelter in order to survive the harsh environment. Tents, campers or an RV are all excellent choices. Many participants will also build shade structures since the local terrain does not provide any shade. Do not count on others to provide you with shelter at the event. You must at all times provide for your own survival needs.

The Sun:

Well, the sun will be provided; no need to bring your own, however we highly recommend you bring ample amounts of sunscreen and lip balm. Products with at least an SPF of 30 or higher are preferred.

Fire Safety:

If you or any of your attendees plan on spinning fire at the event or plan on any other display or experimentation with incendiary materials, please note the following restrictions:

1) Hearthfire safety regulations will be followed within the main camping area at all times.

2) Anyone intending to perform in the city is asked to have a signed copy in hand when they arrive. Please get yours at:

3) All tools must be checked at the Main camp before they are used in the city.

4) All other fire activities including unapproved tool use, unsafe practices, etc. must be kept at least 200' from campers
